With delicious blackcurrant, lemon, strawberry, lime and orange flavours to try, could you take on the chew challenge? ROWNTREE'S Fruit Pastilles: deliciously fruity tasting sweets you can't help but chew! In 1862, Henry Rowntree bought a simple cocoa works in the city of York and turned it into a confectionery company. Henry was joined in business in 1869 by his brother Joseph Rowntree who eventually took over and transformed the company's fortunes. The brothers hired French confectioner August Claude Gaget, and with his expertise, they developed the recipe for ROWNTREE'S Fruit Pastilles, which they launched in 1881. Following on from this, the confectionery company developed ROWNTREE'S Fruit Gums, JELLY TOTS and TOOTY FROOTIES. 2009 saw the launch of the newest edition to the family - ROWNTREE'S RANDOMS. Every bag of ROWNTREE'S RANDOMS contains a different combination of textures, shapes and fruity flavours. ROWNTREE'S pledge no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives in any of their products.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Eric77 from Poor I bought a pack of fruit pastilles and had 7 yellows in a row (have photo proof) I googled this and it said that they are random. I find it hard to believe that I could get 7 yellows in a row with it being random. Totally put off buying this product again.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Lily from Devastating They were all yellow with the exception of one, which was orange. Orange is basically the same as yellow. It made me cry at work.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Liss from The variation of the flavours Thought my lifetime i have loved eating fruit pastels, especially the ‘red’ flavour in the variety of flavours, however it came to my awareness that in my packet of fruit pastels there were no red flavour sweets. This dissapointed me immensely and I feel that it was unfortunate to say most of the sweets in the packet weren’t orange which isn’t a very popular flavour. I am quite dissapointed and am considering not purchasing any more sweets from your establishment. Thank you.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Nelwatson from Very tasty for being reduced sugar Not quite as 'zingy' as regular fruit pastilles but still very sweet and tasty for a reduced sugar version. Would buy them again.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Jo Prince from You changed the recipe!!! I am an ex-pat who visited England recently and bought a few packs of my favorite sweets to bring back to the US with me. It said it had a new recipe, but I thought this was just a flavor change like which has been done in the past. I was very disappointed to find it was the whole recipe that changed, and the texture is now like a soft jelly rather than the harder type it was before. This was very disappointing, as they now taste like a completely different sweet and are not nice at all. I had to throw all 4 bags out, and will not be buying them again. Dont change what's not broke!!!

Rated 2 out of 5 by markj from Reduced sugar very disappointed with the new reduced sugar variety. If I want to eat a sweet then i want to eat something sugary and the lack of sugar on the outside of the pastille really reduces my enjoyment. I did not enjoy eating them.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Sparkplug from 30% less sugar fruit pastilles I bought these, not noticing that they were reduced sugar variety. I must say, they were gross! No flavour, too hard, too small and they left a nasty dry aftertaste. Please stick to what you know.

Rated 1 out of 5 by AJ67 from Fruit Pastilles 30% less sugar I thought I would try the Fruit Pastilles 30% less sugar. They are hard like fruit gums. Fruit Pastilles should be soft and you want to chew. You don't want to chew these. If you suck the sugar of the outside, the inside is a like fruit gums but not as tasty. They also leave a horrible after taste in your mouth. I won't buy them again.

Rated 3 out of 5 by alex85 from Dissapointment Very Disappointed with the last few packs of pastilles i have purchased. They have all been mainly made up of green or yellow sweets. Getting to that point where would be better to purchase a different brand to ensure i get an even mix

Rated 3 out of 5 by roganlouise from where's the variety? purchase these quite a bit but have been disappointed of late as the majority of flavour from the last few packets have been green, or orange. is it more expensive to produce the reds and purple flavours? these are too rare in each packet!

Rated 4 out of 5 by Sam H from Inequality among flavours I love fruit pastilles, they are usually my go to however, I was in disbelief about my tube today. Many have complained about lack of blackcurrant and strawberry pastilles and, though not my favourite, I do tend to agree yet on this occasion I had the complete opposite. Orange are my favourite and I got just one as well as (seemingly in contrast to everyone else) my tube went like this: blackcurrant X2, strawberry, blackcurrant, lemon, blackcurrant, strawberry, blackcurrant, lime, orange, strawberry. Is there no middle ground?!

Rated 1 out of 5 by Shannon from Dissapointed So, today my pregnancy cravings were screaming fruit pastilles. Now I'm not one to discriminate against colours, the yellow's green's and orange's all look very pretty in the packaging, however my favourite of the sweet, the black's to my shock, there was one poor sod on his own with no friends. I wish I had of taken a photo to show this, however my mind ran away with me and I have already ate him, as I felt so sorry for him being on his own, there we're however 4 of my second favourites, the red ones, which was nice. I just thought I should highlight the inequality within this pack.

Rated 3 out of 5 by katie from Am beginning to despair I used to love fruit pastilles and still do but am reluctant to buy any more tubes as, as many other people have said, I love the red and black ones. Is it more expensive to produce red and black ones? The last few tubes I have bought have had only one or two red and black ones and the rest of the tube has generally been green and yellow. Today's pack has 7 green ones 3 yellow ones, one red one, one black one and the rest are orange. Get your act together please otherwise I'll no longer be able to subsidise your overproduction of green fruit pastilles.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Disgruntled from My Sugar Coated Nightmare Dear Mr F. Pastille, I am writing to you through utter disbelief - See pictures attached. I have been a purchaser of your wine gum confectionery products since 1993 and I am astounded into what I have just witnessed. Never have I been so outraged. Your products are without doubt, some of the tastiest and most addictive sweets to ever grace my palate and then you go and do this to me. As everybody is aware, the most respected sweet in your fruit pastille range is of course the ‘black’ one. Reds are a close second but nothing compares to the black ones. Your marketing team are aware of this as they have recently produced a line of solely red and blacks so hats off to them for this, this made my Friday evenings so much more enjoyable. The horror occurred when I bought a packet of these for my daughter on movie night and as she always saves me the black ones, you can imagine what happened as I seen this, I nearly had a panic attack. The pathetic black mess that laid before me looked as if a tiny rodent had seized the opportunity to take half of my pastille then it had obviously gone unnoticed and was packaged. If this is not the case, then you have some very hungry workers on your packaging line who think it’s acceptable to have a cheeky nibble whilst they’re meant to be working. Tempting, I can understand but totally unacceptable. Needless to say, I finished the packet but as I hesitated to eat this deformed black foetus, my will power could not last much longer and although the taste was the same, the texture was like eating damp sand. I would like an explanation into why this has happened and please rectify the situation at your earliest convenience. Yours sincerely, A disgruntled black pastille lover.
