Rated 5 out of 5 by from My favourite sweet ever I love that these are now vegan. I have had to avoid them for years. Please Rowntree, don't give in to those SELFISH individuals who only care about having a mouth full of boiled bones! Fruit pastilles make me happy. They have many sweets to choose from, we don't.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible taste We used to love Fruit Pastilles but the new vegan ones are terrible. Why mess with something that was so good?? I appreciate that people want vegan/vegetarian options but that is what it should be. An option! Bring back the original ones.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Huge improvement Bought these for the first time in years after hearing everyone raving about the new improved recipe, and I was not disappointed- love how great these taste and the awful old texture from the gelatine is now gone. A win win too for the animals and the planet. Everyone I know much prefers the new recipe, thank you!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Vegan change is awful :( It is a sad day for me! I tried the new version of vegan friendly fruit pastilles today, I am just so disappointed, my absolute favourite fruit jelly sweets since the 1980’s have changed - for the worse. The texture is softer, the flavour is different and that lovely crusted sugar coating has gone. I am devastated at this change. I am all for vegan options, but it should be just that - an option, why make a new recipe that is much loved by so many people and take away the original? There should be a choice, vegan and non-vegan original pastilles.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Such a shame! We as a family buy lots of a pastels we all love them , then we all started complaining about these ones we bought this week are really soft and sticky not as sweet and the worst of it was they stick to your teeth terribly, we thought it was probably just a bad batch, a week later we realized you changed them , and we can no longer Injoy our favourite sweets like we used to, you seriously have made a big mistake trying to cash in on the vegan sector, you will lose more % of your loyal customers than u will ever gain in vegan ones , bringing down your revenues, and really that's what it's all about right ? I know this because all of my family and myself agree that the sweets are terrible now and many other people are saying the exact same thing! We will not be buying fruit pastilles ever again, such a shame as we really did love them. Big mistake,,HUGE.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing! The originals were awful and sticky but a friend told me that the new range tasted amazing so I picked up a bag. I can’t get over how much you managed to improve them- will be buying these very regularly now!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from A tragedy Opened a packet of fruit pastilles earlier and was greeted with a colourful array of pastilles, looking juicy and irresistible. With haste, I quickly scouted out my favourite flavour, blackcurrant, and popped it in my mouth. Biting down- the satisfying burst of juice, the sugary shards coating the fruit pastilles, everything exploding with flavour upon contact. It was all going so smoothly until it was time to prepare for the chewing phase. The mushed pastille stuck like glue to my teeth, as if I were biting into a bottle of thickened PVA glue. The flavour escaped everywhere. The coating quickly dissolving as I was left with this gelatinous substance binding my teeth together. This was then when I thought to myself "Wait a second. These taste nothing like the original Fruit Pastilles". I look into the bag again, this time seeing some pastilles bare sugar-coated. The sudden switch to a vegan recipe has really downgraded the overall taste of the product. From the coating to the flavour, and even the consistency, I don't think I'd ever buy a pack of these pastilles again. My friend claims that the tubes of fruit pastilles don't have the vegan recipe, but I am afraid to see for myself. I've given this review 2 stars as the first experience was a delicacy, but was ruined by the pastille taste itself. I'd suggest selling these vegan recipe pastilles separate from the normal recipe pastilles in bags. It's visually clear that the size of these bags are decreasing over time, making it a poor value for it's money.
